"3.5 Limit of one (1) Entry per day per Participant, per postal address, per email address and per IP address."

Thumbs up to that rule, keeps it fair for all.

I so agree with you luv2win. wish they all would do this

I agree with you, I only enter for myself where some will enter for three or more in the household, this would keep it fair for everyone.

Agree with you all. Kind of new to contesting, and was wondering what you brought up lin13: Regarding "entry limits", how can someone enter for more than 2 people in a household if all contests require entrants to be age of majority (18+)?
Do you guys think a lot of contesters "cheat"? You can't use fake names because now they almost always ask for IDs right? So are they cheating by using multiple email addresses?
I guess the only way to stop this is for the contest administrator to check IP addresses...but even then I hear some people "mask" their IP.
Let me know what all of you think about all this. I appreciate all your feedback.

as a retired senior couple hubby and I both like doing the contests. The dreaming is fun and it is a good activity. We don't consider ourself "cheaters"

Tried voting again but it keeps asking me to login even though I already have...

Anonymous - I don't think that anyone would consider that cheating, I think that we are talking about the people who enter numerous others in contests...some real some made up people as well as the groups (recently one in Quebec) and sadly if they tighten rules to eliminate something, others might be affected. I for one hadn't though of your situation and I apologize.

no need luv2win we are all one big (happy) hopefully family of contesters.

Yup I was talking of people that enter using fake names and multiple email addresses.
I was actually always weary of entering even a 2nd entry for my wife since somtimes I think they (contest administrators) see this as 2 entries from the same household (as they see it coming from the same computer IP address) and they disqualify/remove my original entry. Don't know if this is what they do, but I suspect.
The whole "one entry per person/email" is always somewhat unsure.
Maybe they also track the home address you enter, and if this is the same, they get rid of both entries (mine and my wife's)???
Maybe the contests can simply state 1 entry per IP address and that would solve the cheating going on.
Anyways, doesn't the saying go: "cheaters never win, and winners never cheat"...or is it reversed???

Using one entry per IP address would eliminate anyone using any public computers at libraries, etc., when they don't have a home computer.

Posted by: kthorn62 on July 18, 2017

kthorn62, good point, not sure how the IP address works at libraries (are they all the same). But they have to enter their phone # which would have to be unique so proves it's a different person.
If people are actually using multiple email addresses to enter multiple times and not getting disqualified, then they have better odds of winning and probably win more which sucks for the honest folk.
Finally: makes you wonder how the contests check when it says "single entry"??

Posted by: anonymous on July 18, 2017

I work in a library, and the IP address is the same for all public computers in our library. If one person entered a contest at one computer and someone tried to enter a contest at another computer, the second person would get a message that someone had already entered at that IP address, if contest was limited to one entry per IP address. No matter if addresses and phone numbers were different, only one could enter per library. Sort of unfair to all those out there who come to libraries because they do not or cannot afford internet access at home.

1. Years ago I lived in a very large apartment building & was disqualified from some contests and samples because someone else in my building used our main street address (not the unit number).
2. Disney & children's contests allow 4 entries per household (as children are allowed to enter with parental guidance I believe) although this does not apply to me

Interesting anonymous about the address issue. So that means 2 people living in the same house wouldn't be eligible.
Thanks for all the feedback. Anyone else with thoughts?
