Thanks Linda and Vesper-really cool site, if a bit overwhelming by the sheer volume of interesting looking books.

Posted by: craig1954 on July 6, 2014

Thanks craig1954 - I deleted the other one

Posted by: Contestgirl on July 6, 2014

This seems like a fairly easy one to win. Lots of bodice rippers but many others to chose from. I have won 5 books pre-Contestgirl.

Posted by: craig1954 on July 6, 2014

Just won second book in a week😊

Posted by: nursekh on July 7, 2014

I won a book in Dec and today I received an invoice for $11.50! I didn't expect to have to pay for a free book. They said it is for customs duties. I won't be entering anymore

Posted by: jenn13 on February 11, 2015

I've won several times jenn13 and have never paid for customs duties. I wonder why this happened to you?

Posted by: annie on February 19, 2015

The publisher or author, not Goodreads, is responsible for shipment of books to winners. To list a book, the publisher or author has already agreed never to send you anything except the book in question." I would complain to Goodreads that your 'free' book was anything but free!

Posted by: annie on February 19, 2015

I just won a free book. I have won from them before, never had to pay custom duties either, we'll see what happens.

Posted by: reno2014 on February 19, 2015

I will contact Goodreads then - thanks! I have won books from them before and never had to pay so I am really annoyed with this one.

Posted by: jenn13 on February 20, 2015

It may have been the publisher/author of the book you won that decided about the extra charge. Where did the invoice come from?

Posted by: reno2014 on February 20, 2015

IT came from DHL Express Canada

Posted by: jenn13 on February 20, 2015

If it came from the courier, author or publisher must have checked off the box that says recipient to pay charges. I would be ticked off at this, and refuse the charges. I would return it to sender, or readdress this to Good Reads. If this happens to me this is what I am going to do. But, that is just me. I don't want to give you any "evil" thoughts, lol... Did you contact Good Reads about this issue?

Posted by: reno2014 on February 20, 2015

Thanks, I have contacted Goodreads and am awaiting a reply. Unfortunately the book came in December so I threw the packaging away. I just received the invoice in the mail last week. When I called they said they were backlogged from Dec and that is why it came so late.

Posted by: jenn13 on February 21, 2015

Does the author of the book or their publisher have an email or web page somewhere to contact them? If so I would explain the situation to them and ask them to help you out. You may want to include in what Good Reads says on their website about extra charges etc. This may become an issue between you and the author or publisher. The courier service has to get paid somehow, from someone, so they are not at fault here.

Posted by: reno2014 on February 21, 2015

Won a book only six hours after entering! Great site!

Posted by: luminous on February 21, 2015

Your welcome jenn13, let us know what happens, and good luck.

Posted by: reno2014 on February 22, 2015

Any updates on your dilemma Jenn13?

Posted by: reno2014 on March 5, 2015

really unfair that you have to be 18 or older..

Posted by: setton on June 30, 2015

Wow, I signed up in Feb. but started entering in August. Already won 2 books and they are good ones too.

Posted by: Sande on September 3, 2015

Hmm...I don't seem to have the same luck as everyone else. Any tips?

Posted by: ari on October 6, 2015

ari, enter every week for lots of books.

Posted by: Sande on October 9, 2015

Didnt know I won, but received a book in the mail yesterday.

Posted by: grandmalynda on October 22, 2015

Haven't won anything still but I'm trying! Thanks for the encouragement.

Received an e-mail that I've won my 1st book.

Posted by: A.J. on November 4, 2015

Won another book!

Posted by: A.J. on November 5, 2015

I won thre books from here lately. The Wealthy Physician, Highs Lows and Plateaus a Guide to Strokes and The Farmhouse Rules(finally a cookbook)

Posted by: reno2014 on November 20, 2015

I won a book on my first day of entering!

Posted by: Snowflake1211 on November 25, 2015

I have won books which I intend to read, I also would like to keep my account current for everyone (particuarly the authors), but I do not find this site very user friendly. Granted we were still using an abacus when I was in grade school, but some tutorial would be appreciated! I didn't see any "HELP" button.
#1 : How do I enter books to my "Currently Reading" list? Please advise.
Maybe I just need to turn "Chuck Berry" and Bill Haley" down a few notches to clear my head.

Posted by: A.J. on December 3, 2015

AJ. When you enter to win a book there should be a box underneath your address that says something like" add this book to my shelf" . Check the box beside that statement. Also I find it helpful to choose favorited genres. I believe this is one of the criteria to getting your name picked in a draw. And don't forget to write a review for the books you win. This helps you get chosen too. I also like to do the never ending book quiz . Hope this helps out.... Oh, one other thing, you can also write a review on books you already own.

Posted by: reno2014 on December 3, 2015

Wow, glad to hear people win. I have been entering daily for about 2 years and have won 1 book.

Posted by: jane1 on March 3, 2016

Just won a book!

Posted by: jane1 on March 12, 2016

I never win.

Posted by: Ninero07 on March 5, 2017

i just spent hours and hours entering to win! I read a ton of books and i'm feeling lucky!!

Posted by: tabitha4sweeps on March 31, 2017

Really great odds to win books on this site. I won the first contest I entered here.

Posted by: bearabear on July 7, 2017

I won again today!

Posted by: bearabear on July 8, 2017

Any Canadians winning? I am just wondering because in the rules:

"How to Enter. On the Sweepstakes Landing Page, confirm you have a U.S. address (you may be required to log in to your Goodreads and/or account) and follow the entry form instructions. If you are a winner, an e-mail notification will be sent to you and you will be able to access your prize using your account."

Posted by: Roscoe2013 on July 23, 2017

I won "Winnepeg Cooks" cookbook. So Canadians do win. Good luck. Just keep trying, but obviously only if you want the book.

Posted by: entrywizz on July 24, 2017

I won!

Posted by: Roscoe2013 on July 25, 2017

"Hi ****,

Thanks for alerting us! I went ahead and checked with our developers, and it seems they are aware of the sorting issue with giveaway genre pages and are currently working on fixing it. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience!

While I don't have a firm date for the fix, this bug is prioritized in our development team's backlog, and we hope to fix this soon. In the meantime, I've added your report to the developer ticket, and I'll be sure to let you know once it's been resolved.

If there's anything else I can help you with, please don't hesitate to email!

I click on the "ending soon" on the horizontal menu row, and can access the usual list that way.

Posted by: SandiT on January 16, 2018

Yes, I know that now. It used to default to that, but something changed. Thanks.

Posted by: A.J. on January 16, 2018

Am I doing something wrong, or is there a lot less books to enter for lately?

Posted by: Mom on February 17, 2018

Less real books and far too many ebooks since the new year, which I don't enter for.

Posted by: A.J. on February 17, 2018

Anyone notice it's just for the USA now? It says that there will be other countries added, but not when.

Posted by: kimbilly on March 30, 2018

Aaaand, they're back with |Canadian giveaways again!

Posted by: kimbilly on April 4, 2018

Got my first book from them yesterday after a year of entering

Posted by: Parallel on May 18, 2018

Not much of anything lately! Now, they're pressuring you to add it to your "want to read" shelf in order to enter. I already have several thousand on my shelf and think this would add to their data overload! If you win/review a book and want to remove it from your shelf, it says it will delete your review also! this I don't understand. I don't think removing reviews would please the author or publisher. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Schools are closing or already closed for summer vacation, yet today I don't see even one children's book up for a giveaway. Very sad for the authors and much more so for the rich publishers! I would feel it my duty to reach out to publishers, in the interest of the children, if I owned, ran or even worked for a business such as GoodReads. I read an article just today stating that the younger generations I.Q. is on a downward slide.

Posted by: anonymous on June 15, 2018

I keep entering but haven't won yet.

Posted by: tweeky on June 21, 2018

not many books this week

Posted by: Parallel on July 16, 2018

I notice that Sidetracker wins books every month. I would like to know her secret.

Posted by: tweeky on August 2, 2018

There never seems to be too many genres Canadians can enter to win books. What's up with this?

Posted by: sam2222 on August 12, 2018

Fewer books by the day for Canadians.

Posted by: jane1 on September 2, 2018

Posted by: Parallel on September 4, 2018

Why are there no listings anymore for Canada? This used to be one of my fave contest sites.

Posted by: Shelleyb321 on September 16, 2018

Under giveaway terms it says open to residents of U.S.. Canada not mentioned now. So disappointing.

Posted by: jane1 on September 27, 2018

Not much offered for the U.S. these days either. There must another book site! Shame though, they were really great a year ago. Like they say, life is change. Has to be the economy. Publishers and authors are tightening up.

Posted by: A.J. on September 27, 2018

Lots of new U.S. listings yesterday. Enjoy!

Posted by: jane1 on September 28, 2018

Sent them a message. All contests are currently for the U.S. She encourages Canadians to send in requests for contests as they want our feedback.

Posted by: jane1 on October 3, 2018

Some for Canada now!

Posted by: jane1 on October 15, 2018

Very lean holiday season as far as books are concerned. Especially for the children. Sad!

Posted by: A.J. on December 30, 2018

I won two books (A Bound Heart, and This Is Not a Love Story) the week I signed up. I entered in the evening, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the reason I won.

Posted by: BinBinB4 on January 23, 2019

Now you need an Amazon account as well to enter . It also says you may need to pay sales tax and GST ...
