contest2much, I think perhaps they do it as a deterrent, although a very weak one, to try to limit their promotions to actual tobacco users. I've never won a prize from them that required me to fill out an affidavit, so I'm not sure if they try to get you to attest to being a tobacco user for their bigger prizes. I imagine children accessing the site, becoming smokers, etc. When you give the last 4 digits of your Social to have access to their site, you are certifying that you are a smoker. I believe it's because of the lawsuits also. They can't be seen as trying to entice non smokers into smoking basically. Someone on Contestgirl commented on one of the cig sweeps once that they'd called the company (with some question about the sweeps) and commented that they were trying to quit smoking and the representative hung up on them (something like that, can't remember every detail, getting old.)
